RESTRICTED CASH

On 25 June 2015 the group acquired ARM’s 50% of Dwarsrivier Chrome Mine (Dwarsrivier), held by Assmang. The completion of the transaction is subject to certain conditions precedent (CPs), the most significant of which is the approval by the Department of Mineral Resources (DMR) of the transfer of Dwarsrivier’s mineral rights from Assmang to a company which will be called Dwarsrivier Chrome Mine Proprietary Limited, and which will be a wholly owned subsidiary of Assore. This approval is required in terms of the Mineral Resources and Petroleum Development Act. Pursuant to the agreement concerned, an amount of R450 million was placed in an escrow account. Once the CPs have been met, the balance (inclusive of accrued interest and certain contractual adjustments to accommodate the change in value of the asset since 1 July 2014 (effective date of acquisition)) will be released in favour of ARM (refer note 32). 450 000  –
